English as a Second Language (ESL)
Program Goals
The ESL program is designed to help students build strong foundational listening, speaking,
reading, writing, and grammar skills while improving fluency and accuracy for effective
communication in everyday and academic settings. The program prepares students for the
challenges of academic courses at an American university by developing critical thinking,
note-taking, and academic writing skills and expanding their academic vocabulary.
Additionally, students gain a deeper understanding of American culture and social norms,
fostering confidence in navigating cultural differences and participating in campus life.
Focusing on integrating technology into learning, the program enhances digital literacy
through online grammar tools, software, and internet resources. By cultivating self
confidence, independence, and cross-cultural communication abilities, the program
equips students with the skills to thrive in a globalized world and succeed academically
and professionally.
